Sesame Green Beans (Goma-ae) | インゲン豆の胡麻和え

Steamed green beans covered in a creamy sesame sauce. This green bean goma-ae is the tastiest way to get in your greens. Just 6 ingredients and 15 minutes!

Ingredients

  • ½ pound green beans
  • 2 tbsp tahini*
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds
  • ½ tbsp date paste, maple syrup, or sugar
  • 1 tsp mirin
  • 1 tsp soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free)
  • 1 tbsp water

Instructions

  • Rinse and trim green beans. Bring a pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add in green beans and boil 3-5 minutes, until tender. Drain with a colander and rinse under cold water to prevent further cooking. Chop into thirds.
  • Mix remaining ingredients together until fully combined. Add more water as needed to reach desired consistency. 
  • Mix sauce with green beans and sprinkle a few extra sesame seeds on top.

Notes

*Can replace with more toasted sesame seeds. Grind up all 3 tbsp of toasted sesame seeds until fragrant and slightly powdery.
