What is Sushi Vinegar?

Sushi vinegar, also known as seasoned rice vinegar, is a sweet and salty rice vinegar commonly used for seasoning sushi rice. However, it’s also delicious in other uses such as salad dressings and marinades! You can find bottles of sushi vinegar/seasoned rice vinegar at the store, but it’s also super easy to make at home!

Just 3 Ingredients

To make sushi vinegar, all you need are rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. If you don’t have rice vinegar, you can replace with apple cider vinegar or another vinegar of choice, but I highly recommend rice vinegar for the best flavor. Just mix all the ingredients together and it’s ready to use!

How to Use Sushi Vinegar

Obviously, sushi vinegar is used to make sushi rice, but it’s also delicious as a dressing (on it’s own or mixed with other ingredients like oil, garlic, ginger, sesame seeds, etc.), in a marinade, and is perfect for pickling veggies like my easy pickled onions. I also like to pickle celery and bell peppers with it for salads.
